IMAP Server Settings-IMAP Server Settings

IMAP server settings-IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is used by email clients and web-based email applications to retrieve email messages from the mail server. IMAP receives emails, synchronizing the account to the mail server, and enables us to view the messages on other devices. The IMAP settings can be manually done using some preferred standard inputs. The default port number for IMAP is 993, and the secured encryption is SSL.



Gmail IMAP Settings


Step 1: First, enable the IMAP on your Gmail account to access the IMAP email server settings.


Step 2: To enable IMAP in Gmail, open your web browser, and access your email server page.


Step 3: Enter your Gmail address and password to log in to your Gmail account.


Step 4: Click on the Settings icon displayed on the top-right corner.


Step 5: Select the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab on the displayed window and select Enable IMAP for all mail in the IMAP Access column.


Step 6: Click Save changes and log out from your Gmail account.


Step 7: Now, IMAP is enabled for your Gmail account, and you need to configure the IMAP settings on your email client.


Step 8: The default Gmail IMAP settings are given below:The incoming mail(IMAP) server is imap.gmail.com.The Secure Sockets Layer(SSL) is the standard security technology used for Gmail.The Port number is 993 by default.The outgoing mail(SMTP) server is smtp.gmail.com. SMTP also requires SSL and TLS(if available).The authentication port for SSL is 465 and TLS is 587.


Step 9: After registering the necessary details, select the Test Account Settings on your mail client to check the server connection settings.
